While training is a core part of what we do, the Scuba Wales community is built on regular, social diving. We provide a space for qualified divers to maintain their skills, meet new buddies, and enjoy the unique environment of our spring-fed lake at Glynneath.
As the diving arm of Clear Water Activity Centre, we offer a social atmosphere that extends beyond the water, making it the perfect home for divers in South Wales.
The Lake Community
Our primary hub is the lake at Spring Valley. Because it is spring-fed, it offers consistent conditions year-round. It is an ideal spot for:
- Sunday Socials: Regular meet-ups for shore dives and kit testing.
- Skill Refreshers: A safe, controlled environment to practice buoyance or try out new equipment.
- Mid-week Dips: Access to the water during our standard opening hours for those who want to avoid the coastal weekend crowds.
Beyond the Dive
One of the benefits of being based at the Clear Water Activity Centre is the facilities available to our social members. After your dive, you can take advantage of:
- The Lakeside Hub: A place to de-brief, log dives, and warm up.
- Family Inclusion: Since we offer paddleboarding and kayaking on-site, your non-diving friends and family can get out on the water while you are underneath it.
- Equipment Support: On-site kit hire is available to all our social divers.
Join the Club
We welcome divers from all agencies, whether you trained with PADI, BSAC, or SSI. To join us for a social session, we simply require:
- Proof of Certification: Please bring your qualification card on your first visit.
- A Quick Briefing: If you haven’t dived the lake before, one of our regulars or staff will give you a quick orientation of the underwater attractions and entry points.
