Scuba Wales FAQ
How old do I need to be to try scuba diving? The minimum age to participate in a Try Dive or start a Junior Open Water course is 10 years old.
What should I bring for my diving course? We provide the necessary scuba equipment for beginners, including wetsuits. You should bring your own swimwear, a towel, and plenty of warm clothing for after your dive.
Is the water very cold? Our lakes are spring-fed and do not freeze, but the temperature varies throughout the year. We provide high-quality thermal protection, but we always recommend checking the conditions before your session.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to dive? To complete a full certification, you must be able to swim 200 metres comfortably and tread water for at least 3 minutes. If you are just doing a Try Dive, basic water confidence is required.
Bookings & Cancellations
Do I need to book my visit in advance? Day entry tickets should be pre-booked online to guarantee your space. However, scuba diving lessons and professional courses must always be booked in advance to ensure an instructor is available.
What happens if the weather is bad? Diving and water sports are weather-dependent. If we have to cancel for safety reasons, such as high winds or poor visibility, we will work with you to reschedule your session. Please note that we are not liable for any travel costs incurred due to weather cancellations.
